As a new mom in Los Angeles, Audra tried many "mommy & me" music classes looking for fun and enriching experiences for her and her baby.  A stay-at-home mom of Mexican descent, she was surprised that she couldn't find a Spanish program and developed ChicosChicas for children 3 and under.  At the same time, she was inspired by the Music Together®® early childhood music education program. She became a registered teacher of Music Together and a licensed Center Director, launching Audra's Music Together to serve the Bel-Air, Brentwood and Westwood neighborhoods. In December 2009, Audra acquired Sunshine Music, a larger center in the Valley offering Music Together and Kindermusik classes and immediately included all programs under the Sunshine Music banner.

Audra has a B.A. in English and a Secondary Teaching Credential from Mount St. Mary's College, Los Angeles.  A former high school English teacher, Audra brings her devotion to teaching, love of children, support of parents, and passion for music and learning to her classes.  Audra and her husband Ron live in The Glen with their sons Dante & Navarro.

photo Cathy Shapiro

Cathy grew up in a musical family and has always been passionate about making music and the joy and soul fulfillment it can bring. For Cathy, nothing can compare to singing, while being surrounded by beautiful vocalists harmonizing. She has sung on many professional recordings, and performed with various singers/songwriters. Cathy once found herself performing on stage with Ken Kesey, and on another occasion doing harmonies with Billy Bob Thornton with Tommy Shaw on guitar. Having the musical confidence to jump into these wonderful music situations and enjoy a jam session at a bonfire or grab a drum at a drum circle, is what Cathy is so excited about sharing and facilitating as a Music Together teacher. Aside from music, Cathy's other love is children. She was a beloved preschool teacher for four years and is now enjoying the best job of her life -- being a mom!

photo Ellen Kennedy

Ellen turned her sights on music for children in 2006, while enjoying a career as a seasoned commercial and TV producer for nearly 20 years.  Inspired by the day-to-day life with her then 3-year-old son, and pregnant with twins, Ellen and her husband Matt formed the “kindie rock” band Ellen and Matt (www.ellenandmatt.net), and recorded and released their first CD, “Best Friends.”  Over the next three years, Ellen and Matt received critical acclaim, and developed quite a following playing shows in New York and all over Los Angeles.  Ellen also taught traditional Hebrew and Jewish music to the religious school children of Ohr HaTorah congregation for two years.  She loves trying out songs from the Music Together collections on her three rambunctious sons, and is excited to be a part of the Music Together family.

photo Sheila Geiger

Sheila is a guitarist and has been a songwriter and performer for the past 20 years in Los Angeles and the East Coast.  She has been a registered Music Together teacher for ten years and loves bringing the joy of making music to families.  Sheila's mom was a Music Together teacher and Sheila has taken the program with her own son, when he was a little tot.  Before Music Together she studied art and animation as well as owned and operated her own retail floral business.  She lives in Glendale with her 5 year old son, a little white dog and a black cat.

photo Ellie Doud

Ellie Doud's love for music began at a young age. Starting piano lessons at age 4 and continuing for 15 years, Ellie developed a strong foundation in music and also a desire to teach. She has a degree in Elementary Education and also completed the piano pedagogy program at Taylor University. She has taught private piano lessons to both children and adults. Based on personal experience, Ellie knows the value of early childhood music education. This conviction only grew stronger when she enrolled her infant son in a Kindermusik class. Dylan, is now four and participating in the Kindermusik "Young Child" program. Now Ellie watches as new baby Sadie lights up with smiles throughout her Music Together classes. It is through her personal experiences with her children that Ellie became convinced that more children and parents should share musical experiences together. Ellie hopes that her love of music and her masterful teaching skills will bring the magic of music to many families in the Los Angeles area.

photo Isabel Brazon

Born and raised in Venezuela, Isabel has a BA degree in Communications from a Catholic University Andres Bello. She has been teaching Spanish as a second language for more than 4 years, at all levels and ages, and 2 years through music and games. Isa (as we like to call her) is always contributing ideas and valuable add-ons to our Spanish music program.  Her ultimate goal as a ChicosChicas teacher is for kids to have fun while learning the new language. She is a loving and caring teacher who charms parents and students with her guitar and voice. The experience of having learned English as a foreign language and living in the United States gives Isabel further insight into understanding the challenges facing her students, not only in terms of language, but also of cross-cultural issues, which is one of her favorite topics. As she says, "It’s such fulfilling experience!" Teaching is also her way of giving back to the community that has opened so many new doors in her life.
